Nice and Warm, but...I have another one of these in maroon that I purchased about 5 years ago. My wife starting wearing it so I got this newer version that has rain defender. I will say that the rain coating on the jacket does work to repel water, but it is not as soft and cozy as my original one. That cost you a half a star. The other half a star is from the ‘phone pocket’ inside the hand warmer pocket. That thing is EXTREMELY annoying. Most people already have a place for their phone. I don’t think they are relocating it just because they put on a jacket. It is warm and it fits nicely and the Carhartt quality is there. I will probably have to stitch that pocket shut though.

Awesome full zip sweatshirt.......When you need warmth, it is going to rain and you do not want to wear Duck Cloth based Carhartt's to knock out your work!
The Sherpa lining is super soft on your skin & super warm. I love the extra flap over the outside pockets (to prevent "stuff" from falling out) the extra inside "key pocket" is a super feature to make sure you don't lose valuables.
I am 6'4 about 200lb's - the jacket runs "big" vs. a "trim" fit I would prefer (you maybe able to go down 1 size) and I wish the inside chest pocket had velcro on it to make sure items don't fallout when bending over. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Perfect cool weather sweatshirtI teally enjoy wearing this sweatshirt. It’s more like a medium weight jacket than a sweatshirt. I’ve worn it in the rain several times and the rain beads right off. I like the inside chest pocket to hold my phone or wallet. I have an iphone 8 plus in an otterbox case. It’s huge and it fits perfectly in the pocket. The main front pockets are spacious and have a flap that covers the top and offers some protection to the contents. A nice feature. It is easy to put on because it uses a heavy duty zipper as opposed to having to pull it over your head. The Hood also has sherpa lining in it and is nice and warm on your head even with no winter hat. I love mine and highly recomend it especially for chilly wet weather

Very nice butVery warm sweat shirt, keeps me warm without my usual vest & other layers driving a forklift at night in the winter(California) but it feels like it could of been a little longer in length. I got the 2x tall I’m 6’4” & another inch or so would of been appreciated. Going to have to wash it on gentle cycle & hang dry.
Also the zipper feels like it goes up way to high and irritates, annoyes my neck if I try to zip it up high. I had to remedy this by folding it a bit over at the top/ neck line area then stitching It up.
Other than the length it fits great.

Love my SherpaThis is my go to sweater. This is all I’ll need for the chilly cold winters here in the high desert of California. What’s best is even with this ideal sweater I can still have full use of my arms and maintain movement throughout my body. This sweater is just right for my needs. Sometimes I’ll be in the warehouse where the temperature is kept at a brisk 35 degrees and I’ll be comfortable while working that environment without losing any time or breaking a sweat in the fast paced freezer room warehouse. Excellent Piece of Work ClothingOf all the jackets, coats, etc. that I own, I absolutely love to wear sweatshirts. They provide dexterity and warmth that isn't often matched. I bought this sweatshirt recently because of the sherpa lining. After wearing it to work the first few nights, I'm positively sold on it's comfort and functionality. As a front line supervisor, I need to be able to work without discomfort. This fits the bill in all aspects. Pockets are sufficiently deep and the fit is great in the shoulders, sleeves and waist. The sherpa lining provides warmth and in my opinion, is preferable to the quilt linings in other sweatshirts. The added "rain defender" is a bonus when you have to be out in light rain or mist. I'd really like to see this made in safety yellow!

Roomy, Warm & FunctionalGreat value here, well constructed with just the right amount of features. Love the two sewn in pockets, one left breast, one inside right pocket. Although the pocket inside the right pocket should be more inset because it's always the first place your hand hits. Sometimes tough to navigate. Got caught in a windy wet snow last night and cinched the hood, pulled the zipper all the way up, especially like the neck cover feature during storms like these. Water repellent did it's job. Easy to put on and take off and very comfortable to wear.

Lack of lining in arms ruins an otherwise great sweatshirtThe lack of Sherpa lining in the arms is insane. My arms are the only things exposed under my sweatshirt that could really benefit from the Sherpa lining. I've got all this wasted cozy Sherpa lining against my t-shirt. I guess my neck is pretty comfortable. The "quilted nylon for easy on and off" description seems like it was added after the fact once they realized it was a terrible design and were scrambling to justify it. I really like Carhartt products and will buy more in the future. But this sweatshirt is a real disappointment.
