Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too Small I have been wearing only wear Smart Wool socks for years, love them and have given them as gifts. I recently bought four pair in size large and have worn and washed two pair. The older PhD Outdoor socks were great and sized correctly! The new ones are way too tight and leave a super tight line at the top of the sock at my calf. I'm 5' 10", 170 lbs. and a size 10 shoe. The size chart shows that the socks go up to a size 11.5 but they don't! The old socks were perfectly sized! I use many other Smart Wool products and love them. When the socks were so good and fit so well why make them smaller than the size chart! I have two pair that I have worn a few times and are completely unusable due to the small size!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reynaud's Syndrome Solved Forget about heating pads/heated soles etc. this sock-used as a liner sock--in conjunction with Smartwool's heaviest red/grey mountaineering crew sock is the antidote to cold feet. Reynaud Syndrome sufferers suffer no more. Wear these two socks but but a shoe 1/2 size larger. I'm buying 7 of these to go with my 7 mountaineering socks. Relax, it doesn't feel bulky and it's not too warm indoor. Have been searching for this 'antidote' to cold feet fir five years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too tight I only wear smart wool sox, for all occasions. The style I had bought before had been discontinued so I tried these. They were too tight and left an indentation in my lower leg at the end of the day. I am 6 feet 1 and 230 lbs and I ordered the XL.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I won't buy another pair unless they make them bigger Seems like a warm sock but too tight for my size 13 foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Just recently wore these on a multi day hiking trip in AK - weather ranged from wet, cold, and wet... we were warm at times from all the accelerated heart rates... these socks were perfect. Even tho we were soaked, I never felt uncomfortable in these. They dry semi fast (in cloudy conditions) had we had more sun they would have dried faster. Love them and will only wear these for all mutli days from now on. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big fan of the "light" variety crew I bought six pairs of socks recently to restock my sock drawer. (all different). The two light varieties are now among my favorite's. Much more cushioning than the ultra lights. If they hold up through the summer I might start buying these rather than the ultra light's. They've been wonderful so far in winter temps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New customer, but I will buy more and more I am switching over from using Wigwam socks For the last 10 years. My top two reasons for switching were the Wigwam's now longer fit like they use to and the smell is nauseating. I bought my first pair of these when I bought my hiking boots. I wear these socks for every aspect of my life, which includes hiking, exercising, hunting in the early season, and I even wear them as a dress sock. I went with the PHD brand as they are supposed to be designed as a tighter fitting sock, which I very much prefer so they stay in place no matter what. However, I do not see that they are overly tight, I wear a 9.5-10 shoe and the large is an absolute perfect fit. They are tight in all the right places to prevent falling or bunching up, but do not restrict movement or make them uncomfortable in anyway. The light socks are the perfect match of comfort and breathabity for summer and early fall. I have used them on some of the hotter days we had this summer and the wicking ability is amazing. No matter how hot my feet got there was never any odor while wearing or after washing. Even on longer hikes in the brutal heat this year, I never had any hot spot, bunching up, or any other issues. The price of the socks is very similar with the prices of any of the other US made sock manufactures. At this point, I cannot really comment on overall longevity as I have had them less then a year. If I had to venture a guess, I suspect many years of use since they are made very well. I guess my only real complaint is having to buy more pairs and choose between the light, medium, and heavy socks, which is hardly a complaint!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely am buying more of these. I bought these for my son and the first time he wore them, I got a text saying that they were amazing! They are very warm, light and allows the foot to breathe. He was hiking and, for the first time, was wearing a sock that remained comfortable the entire day. He wants more of these and I will also be getting some for my husband whose feet are never warm. The quality of these is beyond any other sock.
